This applies to both the relationship we have with pet owners as well as the one between veterinarians working together on a pet’s care.
Overview of the referral process
We know that veterinarians take the health, safety, and well-being of the patients in their care seriously. Dr. Carlson and the rest of the team here at Lenity are dedicated to providing our specialized services in a welcoming environment. As a private practice, we hold ourselves to the highest of standards as a partner in your pet’s continuing health care. We provide referral veterinary services in the Bay Area and within a 120-mile radius of our San Mateo location. This includes orthopedic consultations and procedures, surgical oncology, laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery, general soft tissue surgery, advanced diagnostic imaging, trauma and wound management, reconstructive surgery, and regenerative medicine for dogs and cats. We also work together with a rehabilitation facility that provides a multimodal approach to recovery from surgery or injury and vast improvements in quality of life. Soon we will offer a pain clinic as part of rehabilitation and treatment of chronic conditions.
Referring a Patient to Lenity
Veterinarians with a challenging case are always invited to reach out to Lenity and Dr. Carlson. We believe that optimal pet health can be achieved when we come together to focus on combining our different areas of expertise toward a shared purpose. If you choose to refer a patient to us for specialty care, our goal is to support the pet and owner now while also giving you all the help you need to manage their future care. As a privately-owned veterinary referral center, we approach every case in a way that benefits the patient and includes the referring DVM. Our relationship and sharing of information can continue for as long as you and your patient need us.

If you have a patient in need of one of our specialty veterinary services, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We’ll work with you to coordinate a seamless transfer of health records. We pride ourselves on our ability to make the referral process as easy as possible. We will also ensure that all records are made available to you for continuing care afterward. Our specialty animal hospital offers the Bay Area veterinary community access to advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures.
